Day job: Sunning myself on rocks.
Location where you volunteer: Burnie area.
Organisation that you volunteer for: Coastal Family Day Care.
Describe the work that you do: I’m Burnie’s very own mascot for Communities for Children – helping to build healthy strong families in our Burnie community.
I have helpful ideas for kids aged 0 – 12 years. My van is stuffed full of fun things to do, ideas of fun places to go in Burnie. Information about things for you and your family to do and relevant information for families.
You can find me hanging out at Bernie’s Pad in the Plaza, Shop 19 the Plaza Arcade, Burnie or out and about in my Bernie on Wheels Van. In both places, I have information about fun stuff available for families with children aged …birth to 12 years in Burnie, as well as games, books and toys. You’ll find me in my van in all sorts of spots, family days, sporting events and special children’s events like 321GO or Kids in the Park.
My friends also help me run events and activities, like Playspots (for children birth to 6 years) and Chill Outs (children 6-12 years) in Burnie – watch out for posters and flyers for details. I’ll also post details of activities on my facebook page.
My Pad in the Plaza is open from 10.30am to 2.30pm from Tuesday to Fridays – call by and check out games, puzzles and musical instruments. It’s a place where parents can have a “pit-stop” with children whilst in Burnie – change a nappy, feed their baby or just a little time-out from shopping.
Why do you volunteer? Beats catching beetles!
