The final report from the House of Representatives Inquiry into Arts and the News to Rural and Regional Australia has recently been tabled.

The report makes a total of 9 recommendations and notes that engagement with the arts for individuals and communities is necessary and important – particularly for regional areas like Tasmania.

Volunteering Tasmania was pleased to note that the importance of volunteering was highlighted in the report . It noted that our artistic groups that engage volunteers and amateur artists, increasingly benefit from the access to professional networks and events- often only afforded through regional and rural tours.
