Volunteering Australia recently made a submission to the Senate Education and Employment Committees. This submission reflects views from all State and Territory Peak bodies – including Volunteering Tasmania.
The submission clarified the volunteering sector’s concerns around the Fair Work Amendment (Respect for Emergency Services Volunteers) Bill 2016.
Volunteers in the emergency services save lives. They vital to the work of the volunteering industry. We are pleased, therefore, to see the Federal Parliament engaging with the issue of respect for volunteers within the emergency services. We welcome the opportunity to debate the contribution of volunteers to the overall well being of Australian society.
