Judging Process for the Southern Cross Television 2017 Tasmanian Volunteering Awards

SELECTION PANELS

Nominations will be assessed by an independent Selection Panel chaired by Volunteering Tasmania.

Each category has its own Selection Panel, consisting of three judges; one from Volunteering Tasmania, one from a Sponsor organisation, and an independent judge with demonstrated breadth of experience working in the volunteering environment covered by the Award category.

In order to maintain an impartial judging process, a sponsoring organisation is not permitted to judge their sponsored Award category if a nomination has been received for a volunteer, volunteer manager or volunteer group from their own organisation, its subsidiaries or affiliates.

SCORING

Nominations will be scored against the criteria set out in the Nomination Form for each category, and are subject to the Terms, Conditions and Eligibility clauses for each award.   The three highest scoring nominations will progress to the finalist round.

TIE-BREAKERS

If the scores of the individual judges create a tie-breaker situation, nominations of equal score will be re-assessed by the individual category judges against relevant sections of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement until the tie-breaker is broken.

CONTACTING FINALISTS

The nominators for each finalist nomination will be contacted during the week commencing 27 March 2017.  Nominees must then sign their acceptance of the Terms and Conditions and confirm their eligibility criteria.  Any nominees that cannot be contacted within this week, who no longer reside in Tasmania, or do not sign their acceptance of the Terms, Conditions and their Eligibility will be substituted with the next highest scoring nomination in their relevant category.

THE PREMIER’S VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The highest scoring finalist across all six individual Award categories will be awarded the Premier’s Volunteer of the Year award.  If a tie-breaker situation occurs, the nominations with the equal highest score will be reassessed by all judges against relevant sections of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement until the tie-breaker is broken.

The Selection Panel’s decision on all Southern Cross Television 2017 Tasmanian Volunteering Awards Category winners is final.
